Her children are safe, Lambert said. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Jami Dowdy, Pendley\u2019s cousin, told NBC affiliate WTHR of Indianapolis that the mother vanished in February. Dowdy said relatives spent months searching for answers, but do not know how Pendley ended up in Mexico. <\/p>\n<p>Lambert said in a phone interview Wednesday that Pendley had been in a \u201cvery, very, very toxic relationship\u201d with the father of her children. She said she always feared \u201cthis was going to be the outcome.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s insane, but unfortunately, it just happens in domestic situations,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said that Pendley was located in Mexico last month and that her children were briefly \u201ctaken into custody by Mexican authorities\u201d before being returned to her.
