She now alleges that her confessionals were \u201cstripped of context and reassembled to support a false and defamatory narrative unrelated to what she actually expressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe false narrative the producers constructed \u2014 through selective editing, deliberate omission, and surgical manipulation of continuous footage \u2014 included that Ms. Banks knowingly allowed a contestant to be sexually assaulted on her show, exploited that contestant\u2019s trauma for ratings, and then could not even remember it when asked,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cThat narrative about Ms. Banks is a complete fabrication \u2014 one that Netflix streamed to a global audience of millions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Netflix declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Banks says she agreed to participate because she believed viewers deserved \u201ccandid conversation about the show\u2019s legacy \u2014 its successes and its shortcomings.\u201d The suit notes that Netflix aired only 16 minutes of a 3 1\/2-hour interview in which she placed no restrictions on the topics she could be asked about.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The lawsuit accuses Netflix producers of selectively editing portions of Banks\u2019 interview to make it seem like she was responding to questions about a former contestant\u2019s sexual assault \u2014 \u201csomething Ms. Banks had never heard before and was not told during her interview.\u201d Contestant Shandi Sullivan claimed in the documentary that she was assaulted during filming of the show\u2019s second season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefendants edited the Netflix Series to make it appear that Ms. Banks knew she was being asked about a sexual assault and was intentionally trying to evade the topic,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cMs. Banks respects Ms. Sullivan\u2019s perspective and the courage it takes for Ms. Sullivan and others to speak up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedmovinggroups.com\/?p=1164\">Construction workers begin removing Trump\u2019s name from the Kennedy Center<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMs. Banks wishes somebody involved with the Netflix Series would have told her what Ms. Sullivan shared with them,\u201d the suit continues. \u201cBut they deliberately chose not to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Banks is seeking damages for \u201closs of future business opportunities, loss of business income, other compounding losses as will be shown at trial.\u201d No specific monetary amount was listed.<\/p>\n<p>The suit alleges the documentary has caused \u201csignificant harm and damage to the personal brand she has worked for decades to build and maintain throughout the world,\u201d adding that online ratings for her Sydney-based ice cream business, SMiZE &amp; DREAM, have \u201cplummeted\u201d since the documentary aired.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAmerica\u2019s Next Top Model\u201d premiered in 2003 and ran for 24 seasons across UPN, The CW and VH1 before ending in 2018.
