Here\u2019s what cruise passengers and scientists learned.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They are set to meet a senior Iranian delegation to discuss the technical details of a memorandum of understanding signed last week by President Donald Trump in Paris, which has already been tested by fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe first mandate of the negotiating delegation in Switzerland is to end the aggression in Lebanon,\u201d an Iranian Presidential Office spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>Iran said Saturday that it has once again closed the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which 20% of the world\u2019s oil passes, alleging ceasefire violations by Israel. The U.S. military has denied Iran\u2019s claim to control the strait.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy warned ships not to approach the waterway, which Iran had committed to reopening under the interim peace deal.<\/p>\n<p>Despite that move, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday warned against unspecified voices in Iran pressing for a return to conflict.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Continuing the war \u201cis not in the interest of any individual or group,\u201d he stressed, adding that if there are \u201cinternal rifts\u201d in Tehran, \u201cthen there will be no need for Israel and America, we will destroy the country ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said on Truth Social Saturday, amid uncertainty over whether the waterway is actually open, that there would be \u201cNO TOLLS\u201d on the strait during or after the current 60-day ceasefire, \u201cunless they are imposed by and for the United States of America\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Trump added that the U.S. could charge tolls for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, referring to the US. as the \u201cGuardian Angel\u201d of the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>But Iran, through various officials and channels, has said that the failure to implement the first clause of the MOU means there is no agreement in effect.<\/p>\n<p>A violation of Article 1, which specified that fighting must end on all fronts, including Lebanon, \u201ccalls the entire agreement into question,\u201d Iran\u2019s foreign ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei said Saturday, warning that unless the other side immediately adopts the necessary measures, the memorandum as a whole will face serious difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedmovinggroups.com\/?p=1541\">Trump keeps bringing up the number 22<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At least 16 people were killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Saturday, according to the country\u2019s health ministry, after strikes on Friday killed 83.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>A statement from the Israel Defense Forces said Hezbollah had breached the ceasefire and \u201claunched more than 50 projectiles toward IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon\u201d overnight, and that Israel had attacked what it described as Hezbollah targets in response. \u201cThe IDF remains committed to the ceasefire agreement,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Hezbollah said it had adhered to the ceasefire, accusing Israel of making false claims to justify its attacks in an effort to \u201csabotage the agreement\u201d between Iran and the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. spy agencies believe that Israel will likely continue to launch attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to a source with knowledge of the intelligence assessments.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters before he boarded the plane to Switzerland, Vance said that the situation in Lebanon had \u201ccalmed down\u201d despite news reports, and added, \u201cI think we\u2019re going to hopefully make progress on the nuclear issue, hopefully make progress on the Lebanon ceasefire issue. Those are the two big things that I think we\u2019re going to be focused on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are leading the Iranian delegation. <\/p>\n<p>The talks will be joined by mediators from Qatar and Pakistan.
