MEXICO CITY \u2014 Over a dozen people were injured on Wednesday night when a vehicle drove through a crowd in the popular tourist resort of Cabo San Lucas during a celebration of Mexico\u2019s World Cup match victory, Los Cabos\u2019 city hall said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to preliminary information, the vehicle was surrounded by a group of people and, for reasons to be determined by the competent authority, drove through the crowd, injuring several people,\u201d the city hall added.<\/p>\n

A total of 17 people received medical treatment, the statement added, including the driver, who was arrested.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to express our deepest solidarity with the people affected and their families following the unfortunate events that occurred tonight,\u201d Los Cabos\u2019 Acting Mayor Jose Manuel Larumbe said, promising to keep the public informed regarding authorities\u2019 investigations into the incident.<\/p>\n

Located on Mexico\u2019s Baja California peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is one of Mexico\u2019s top luxury tourist destinations and one of the two principal cities within the Municipality of Los Cabos, which also includes San Jose del Cabo and the resort corridor connecting them.<\/p>\n

Celebrations erupted across Mexico on Wednesday evening after Mexico beat the Czech Republic 3-0 in their final game of the World Cup group stage.<\/p>\n
