There\u2019s a new Black Panther, and his name is David Jonsson. <\/p>\n

Director Ryan Coogler announced that Jonsson would be assuming the role on stage at Marvel\u2019s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. <\/p>\n

Jonsson will play T\u2019Challa\u2019s son in \u201cBlack Panther 3,\u201d which will be out on Dec. 15, 2028. Coogler is returning to direct the third movie in the series. <\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege and the blessing to join,\u201d Jonsson said on stage after Coogler shared the news. \u201cI actually don\u2019t want to say too much because I want to let this screen do the talking.\u201d <\/p>\n

The crowd roared with applause upon learning the news. <\/p>\n

In the first Black Panther film, T\u2019Challa was played by Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer in 2020 after the movie premiered and while Coogler was working on the film\u2019s sequel. <\/p>\n

His role was somewhat assumed by Letitia Wright in \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,\u201d who played T\u2019Challa\u2019s sister, Shuri. <\/p>\n

The news of Jonsson\u2019s role appears to be the true passing of the torch, though. <\/p>\n
