No audio of the interview was provided. The White House didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment about the remarks. <\/p>\n<p>Trump was asked to expand on those comments while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office later in the day. \u201cI don\u2019t think they behaved very well, but we\u2019d handle them very easily, just like we do other things,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Oman, which borders Yemen, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia and is near the Strait of Hormuz, has been negotiating with Iran over the vital shipping route. Iran\u2019s semiofficial Mehr News Agency said Saturday that Iran had reached an agreement with Oman on a plan for traffic in the waterway.<\/p>\n<p>Monday marks the end of a 60-day deadline that the U.S. and Iran agreed to in June to end the war and reach an agreement on Iran\u2019s nuclear program. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedmovinggroups.com\/?p=4038\">ByteDance signs AI copyright pact with Hollywood trade group<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz nearly ground to a halt over the weekend, with just 13 ships passing through the waterway, including three Sunday, according to maritime traffic tracker MarineTraffic.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Trump\u2019s threat, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said in a statement Monday that when the Senate returns to Washington from its August recess, he plans to introduce a resolution that would bar military action against Oman.The Democratic senator, who has long advocated putting limits on the president\u2019s military powers, said he hopes to \u201cfind some Republican colleagues to join with Democrats and check this blindly stumbling power-drunk President from inflicting more damage on the U.S. and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump floated the idea last week of declaring the strait a U.S. territory. Asked Monday to elaborate on those remarks, the president said, \u201cWe have total control over the strait,\u201d adding that a U.S.-imposed blockade \u201chas been very effective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow maybe that will stop, or maybe it\u2019ll open up even further,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we\u2019re taking out millions of barrels of oil a week.
