When asked whether Platner should go further and apologize to the women, Khanna agreed.<\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cI think he should apologize. I believe what he did was wrong, was misogynistic, was toxic or volatile,\u201d he said in a brief interview with NBC News. \u201cI know he\u2019s ashamed of it and I certainly think it would be appropriate to apologize and say how he now understands why it\u2019s important to stand up to a misogynistic culture.\u201d<\/p><p>Three former girlfriends described \u201ctoxic\u201d and \u201cunsettling\u201d behavior from Platner when they dated, and one woman, Lyndsey Fifield, said Platner once \u201ctwisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a bedroom and held the door closed from the other side so she couldn\u2019t get out, telling her to remain there until she was \u2018calm.\u2019\u201d<\/p><p>Platner disputed some of the allegations, including that he had been physically abusive.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedmovinggroups.com\/?p=790\">U.S. military says it shot down Iranian drones launched toward Strait of Hormuz<\/a><\/p><p>In an interview with MS NOW on Thursday, Platner said, \u201cAnything alleging physicality, anything alleging that I knew what my tattoo was, these are the statements of someone who\u2019s politically motivated.\u201d<\/p><div><\/div><p>Fifield has worked for conservative groups and Republican campaigns.<\/p><p>Khanna is the highest-profile national figure to back Platner, a day after the serious allegations were leveled against the Senate candidate.<\/p><p>Later, in front of a crowd gathered for an event featuring Platner and candidates for governor and congress, Khanna defended Platner.<\/p><p>\u201cHe understood that those years that he came back were not the best years of his life,\u201d Khanna later said before a crowd. \u201cThen he, unlike others, took accountability for it.
