Drug charges against Olympic skier Bode Miller to be dismissed, lawyer says

A pair of misdemeanor drug charges filed against former U.S. Olympic skier and gold medalist Bode Miller are set to be dismissed, his attorney said Wednesday.

The move came after Miller’s attorney, Jeremy Stafford, said he spoke with Lindsey Blake, the Idaho prosecutor whose office was handling the case.

“She has agreed to dismiss all charges against Bode Miller,” Stafford said. “There is no evidence Bode possessed any illegal drugs.”

Blake, the Fremont County prosecuting attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Miller, 48, had pleaded not guilty to the June 6 charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In an Instagram post Tuesday, Miller said he was charged after being pulled over for speeding on a highway. A friend who was traveling with him had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe that Miller said he was unaware of, according to the post.

Because no drugs were found with Miller and the passenger acknowledged “ownership,” Stafford said, the charges are being dismissed “factually.”

Miller won two silver medals in Salt Lake City in 2002; three medals in 2010 in Vancouver, including a gold; and a bronze in Sochi in 2014.
